Estimate Terms & Conditions
Please review the following terms and conditions before approving your Shelly’s Kitchens estimate.
These terms apply to cabinet painting, drop-off cabinet painting, new door and drawer front projects, countertop estimates, and any additional project upgrades included in your estimate.
By approving your estimate, you acknowledge that you have reviewed and understand the project details, payment terms, timelines, and conditions listed below.
General Estimate Terms
All estimates are valid for 90 days from the estimate date.
Final pricing may vary if the project scope changes, additional work is requested, product selections change, or unforeseen conditions are discovered.
Any changes made after estimate approval may result in additional charges.
Credit card payments are subject to a 4% processing fee.
Cabinet Painting Terms
Shelly’s Kitchens paints existing cabinets to improve and refresh their appearance. Cabinet painting does not make existing cabinets new.
We do our best to clean, sand, prep, prime, and paint all included surfaces professionally. However, cabinets that have been well-loved, damaged, worn, or previously painted may still show some character marks after painting.
Damaged areas may be improved, but not always fully corrected, especially along corners, edges, and heavily worn areas.
Warped doors cannot be repaired through painting. If doors are warped, the warping may become more noticeable after painting.
Project timelines are typically 10 to 14 days, but may vary based on cabinet condition, paint color, prep needs, drying time, schedule availability, and project scope.
Darker paint colors or additional prep work may extend the timeline.
Full-Service Cabinet Painting
Full-service cabinet painting may include existing cabinet doors, drawer fronts, outer cabinet housing, attached crown molding, trim, flat panel cabinet end caps, peninsula or island surrounds, toe kick, primer, and paint, depending on the approved estimate.
A full-service project may include:
- Personal in-home consultation
- Color consultation
- Door and drawer removal
- Cleaning, sanding, priming, and painting
- Two coats of primer
- One to two coats of paint as needed
- Sprayed and baked doors and drawers
- Brushed and rolled cabinet housing
- Door and drawer reinstallation
- One paint color from Benjamin Moore or Sherwin-Williams color lines
Interior cabinet painting is only included if specifically noted or if located behind glass doors and included in the estimate.
Additional fees may apply for reinstallation if new construction doors or drawer fronts are selected.
Drop-Off Cabinet Painting
Drop-off cabinet painting is a shop-only service for cabinet doors and drawer fronts.
Pricing for this service is drop-off and pickup only.
The customer is responsible for removing, dropping off, picking up, and reinstalling all cabinet doors and drawer fronts unless otherwise stated in writing.
The customer is also responsible for painting the in-home portion of the cabinet housing.
Shelly’s Kitchens will provide leftover matching paint for the customer to complete the in-home portion of the kitchen.
Please note that the high-end cabinet paint we use, Envirolak, has a learning curve and is not very user-friendly, even for professional painters. If you are not comfortable painting your cabinet housing yourself, we recommend requesting a quote for full-service cabinet painting.
If you are a confident painter, we recommend practicing on something other than your cabinets before painting your cabinet housing.
- A scheduled drop-off time is required.
- Paint color selection must be provided at least two weeks before the scheduled drop-off.
- A 50% down payment is due at drop-off.
- The remaining balance is due at pickup.
Most drop-off projects have an estimated 10-day turnaround, but darker colors or additional prep may extend the timeline to approximately 14 days.
Paint Colors
- One paint color is included unless otherwise noted in your estimate.
- Additional paint colors may result in an added charge.
- For full-service cabinet painting, additional colors are $150 each.
- For drop-off cabinet painting, additional colors are $100 each.
- Custom color matching is available for $100 when applicable.
- Paint colors must be selected and provided within the required timeframe before the project begins.
Hardware, Hinges, Filling & Drilling
Shelly’s Kitchens carries a selection of cabinet hardware that customers may review during the project process.
Customers may choose to reuse existing hardware or purchase new hardware through Shelly’s Kitchens when available.
Hardware, hinge upgrades, filling, drilling, and installation are only included when specifically listed in the estimate.
Additional charges may include:
- Soft-close hidden hinges starting at $8 each
- Exposed-to-hidden hinge conversion starting at $12 each
- New door or drawer installation labor at $15 per piece, including drilling for handles or knobs
- Drawer box or slide installation at $10 each
- Full-service hardware hole filling at $3.50 per hole
- Full-service hardware hole drilling at $2.50 per hole
- Drop-off hardware hole filling at $3 per hole
- Drop-off hardware hole drilling at $2 per hole
- Hinge type and installation requirements are assessed during the in-home consultation.
Optional Add-Ons & Enhancements
Optional add-ons are not included unless specifically listed in the approved estimate.
Available add-ons may include:
- Toe kick painting
- Underneath portion of upper cabinets
- Appliance cavity painting
- Glass front door work
- New door and drawer fronts
- Crown molding
- Shiplap
- Backsplash
- Custom island wraps
- Quartz countertops
If Shelly’s Kitchens cannot complete a requested enhancement, we may recommend another contractor.
Toe kick painting is $140 unless already included in the estimate.
Underneath portion of upper cabinets is $175 unless already included in the estimate.
Appliance cavity painting is priced individually.
Glass Front Doors
If cabinet doors include glass, glass removal may be billed hourly.
If glass breaks during removal, Shelly’s Kitchens will replace it at cost and add that amount to the final bill.
Cleaning & Prep
Normal cleaning and prep are included in cabinet painting projects.
Excessive cleaning beyond normal preparation may result in an additional charge.
This may include heavy grease, residue, buildup, or other conditions that require additional labor before painting can begin.
New Door & Drawer Fronts
New door and drawer fronts are available upon request.
New construction may affect project cost, timeline, installation labor, and reinstallation fees.
Any new door or drawer front selections must be approved before ordering or installation.
Countertop Estimate Terms
Countertop estimates are provided in partnership with Lakeside Surfaces.
Upon approval of a countertop estimate, full payment is required before countertops can be ordered.
Countertop pricing is based on pre-template measurements. While pre-template pricing is typically very close, the final price may change after the official template measurement.
Any difference in price after templating will be added to or subtracted from the final bill.
Final pricing is based on actual measurements taken during the template process.
Changes made at the time of template may affect the total cost, including but not limited to:
- Edge selection
- Sink selection
- Faucet selection
- Waterfall edge
- Layout changes
- Other design changes
Once payment is received and the project is approved, the fabricator will contact the customer directly to schedule the template appointment.
After templating, an order confirmation will be sent with final details and pricing.
Support for all overhangs will be verified by field technicians at the time of template.
Lakeside Surfaces is not responsible for damage to walls, cabinets, or remaining countertops caused by unforeseen site conditions or the condition of existing tops.
Sink Requirements
Purchasing a sink through Lakeside Surfaces is not required.
If the customer provides their own sink, it must be in the home, in the box, at the template appointment so the item number can be confirmed.
Countertop Timeline
Countertop projects typically take approximately 3 to 5 weeks from order to installation.
If cabinet painting is also part of the project, Shelly’s Kitchens will help schedule the painting project around the expected countertop installation timeframe.
Payment Terms
Payment terms vary by project type.
For drop-off cabinet painting, 50% is due at drop-off and the remaining balance is due at pickup.
For countertop projects, full payment is required before countertops are ordered.
For other project types, payment terms will be listed in the approved estimate.
Credit card payments are subject to a 4% processing fee.
Approval
By approving your estimate, you confirm that you have reviewed and understand these terms and conditions.
You also acknowledge that final project timing, pricing, and scope may be affected by project selections, cabinet condition, countertop template measurements, additional requested work, or unforeseen site conditions.
