Our Equipment
Our Services
Most painters show up with a van, a sprayer, and some paint.
At Shelly’s Kitchens, we’ve invested in a dedicated shop, robotic spray system, spray booth, and bake oven so your cabinets get a finish that looks and performs like it came from a factory—not a jobsite.
This page gives you a quick look at the tools we use every day to refinish and repaint kitchen cabinets across West Michigan.
Why Equipment Matters for Your Cabinets
- Constant opening and closing
- Grease, steam, splatters, and fingerprints
- Regular cleaning and scrubbing
- A smoother, more even finish
- Fewer dust nibs, drips, and flaws
- A coating that cures harder and lasts longer
That’s why we built our process around purpose-built equipment instead of “good enough” setups.
Our Robotic Spray System (R.U.S.S.)
Consistent, Factory-Like Coverage
Our Robotic Ultra Spray System (R.U.S.S.) is a dedicated spray line for cabinet doors and drawer fronts.
Instead of relying on hand-sprayed passes that can vary from person to person, R.U.S.S.:
- Moves each door through the same path, at the same speed
- Keeps the spray gun at a consistent distance and angle
- Applies the coating evenly on every piece
- Fewer thin and heavy spots
- A smoother, more uniform finish
- Better coverage and build with each coat
It’s the kind of consistency you typically only see from a cabinet factory.
Our Spray Booth, Oven & Bake Cycle
Sem sapien sit ut risus commodo. Molestie odio amet ipsum sociosqu venenatis sollicitudin at conubia turpis.
A Clean, Controlled Environment
We don’t spray in garages, driveways, or plastic tents.
Doors and drawer fronts are finished in our environmentally controlled spray booth and oven, where we can control:
- Airflow
- Temperature
- Humidity
- Keeps dust and debris out of the finish
- Helps coatings lay down smoother
- Creates the right conditions for the finish to cure properly
Baked-On Durability
After R.U.S.S. sprays the doors and drawers, we wheel them into the oven for a bake cycle.
We bake the finish throughout the process—primers and topcoats—so every layer cures the way it should.
- Speeds up the cure time
- Helps the finish harden and crosslink
- Produces a tougher, more durable surface
That’s a big part of why our cabinets feel “factory new” and are ready to handle daily use so quickly.
Shop vs In-Home Equipment
What Happens in the Shop
- The robotic spray system, spray booth, and bake oven
- Sanding and prep equipment designed specifically for doors and drawer fronts
- Our professional 2K wood coatings system (same product line from start to finish)
This is where we do the messy, high-precision work so your home stays cleaner.
What Happens in Your Home
We don’t spray your cabinet frames inside your kitchen on purpose.
- Specialty rollers and brushes designed for these coatings
- Dust control, masking, and protection systems
- The same coating system (with hardener), applied in a way that makes sense in a lived-in home
It holds up the way a cabinet finish should: tough, cleanable, and long-lasting.
- Give your frames a beautiful, durable finish
- Keep your kitchen usable while we work
- Avoid overspray in your house and HVAC system
You get the best of both worlds: factory-level finishing in the shop, homeowner-friendly methods in your kitchen.
Other Tools That Make a Difference
Beyond the big pieces of equipment, we also rely on:
Dedicated prep tools
for cleaning, sanding, and repairing doors and frames.
Measurement and layout tools
for new doors, drawer fronts, and hardware placement.
Dust extraction and protection systems
to keep your home and our shop cleaner.
These aren’t as flashy as a robot or an oven, but they’re a big part of why your project runs smoothly and looks the way it should.
What This Means for Your Project
All of this equipment is there to support one outcome:
Cabinets that look incredible and hold up for years in a real West Michigan kitchen.
Because we’ve invested in a purpose-built shop and the right tools, you get:
- A smoother, more professional finish
- Better durability and easier cleaning
- Fewer surprises during and after the project
Whether we’re refinishing, repainting, adding new doors, or doing a DIY & Drop-Off project, we use the same equipment and standards.
