Most painters show up with a van, a sprayer, and some paint.

At Shelly’s Kitchens, we’ve invested in a dedicated shop, robotic spray system, spray booth, and bake oven so your cabinets get a finish that looks and performs like it came from a factory—not a jobsite.

Our Robotic Spray System (R.U.S.S.)

Consistent, Factory-Like Coverage

Our Robotic Ultra Spray System (R.U.S.S.) is a dedicated spray line for cabinet doors and drawer fronts.

Instead of relying on hand-sprayed passes that can vary from person to person, R.U.S.S.:

  • Moves each door through the same path, at the same speed
  • Keeps the spray gun at a consistent distance and angle
  • Applies the coating evenly on every piece

A Clean, Controlled Environment

We don’t spray in garages, driveways, or plastic tents.

Doors and drawer fronts are finished in our environmentally controlled spray booth and oven, where we can control:

  • Airflow
  • Temperature
  • Humidity
This controlled environment:
  • Keeps dust and debris out of the finish
  • Helps coatings lay down smoother
  • Creates the right conditions for the finish to cure properly

Baked-On Durability

After R.U.S.S. sprays the doors and drawers, we wheel them into the oven for a bake cycle.

We bake the finish throughout the process—primers and topcoats—so every layer cures the way it should.

Baking:
  • Speeds up the cure time
  • Helps the finish harden and crosslink
  • Produces a tougher, more durable surface

That’s a big part of why our cabinets feel “factory new” and are ready to handle daily use so quickly.

Shop vs In-Home Equipment

What Happens in the Shop

In the shop, we use:
  • The robotic spray system, spray booth, and bake oven
  • Sanding and prep equipment designed specifically for doors and drawer fronts
  • Our professional 2K wood coatings system (same product line from start to finish)

This is where we do the messy, high-precision work so your home stays cleaner.

What Happens in Your Home

We don’t spray your cabinet frames inside your kitchen on purpose.

Instead, we use:
  • Specialty rollers and brushes designed for these coatings
  • Dust control, masking, and protection systems
  • The same coating system (with hardener), applied in a way that makes sense in a lived-in home
This lets us:

It holds up the way a cabinet finish should: tough, cleanable, and long-lasting.
